Accessibility statement
What this site is built to, how it was tested, what is not yet verified, and how to tell me if something does not work for you.
What this site aims for
A parent arranging anesthesia for their child, a caregiver arranging it for an adult, or a patient arranging it for themselves should be able to read this site with a screen reader, navigate it with a keyboard alone, enlarge the text, or use it without relying on color — and get the same information either way.
This site is built and tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. I am aiming at that standard rather than claiming to have perfected it, and the limitations below say where the gaps are.
Measures taken
What has actually been done.
Tested on every change, not once at the end
Before publication, the site is tested with an automated accessibility suite against WCAG 2.2 Level AA across every page, at a desktop width and a phone width. A page that fails is not published.
Keyboard and screen reader
Controls are designed to be reachable and operable with a keyboard alone. Menus, accordions and the step-by-step panels use standard patterns so a screen reader announces what they are and what state they are in. There is a skip link to the main content.
Contrast and text
Text and interface colors are checked against the contrast thresholds, and no information is carried by color alone. Text can be enlarged in the browser without content being cut off or overlapping.
Motion and timing
The step-by-step panels on the Parents page rotate on their own. There is a Pause control on that panel, and the rotation also stops as soon as you choose a stage yourself. If your device is set to reduce motion, the rotation does not start at all.
Targets and forms
Buttons and links are sized to be comfortable to hit, including on a phone. Every form field has a visible label, errors are described in words rather than by color, and the error is announced rather than only shown.
Images
Photographs that carry no information are marked so a screen reader skips them rather than reading a filename. Anything that does carry information is described in the text around it.
Known limitations
Where this site is not yet verified.
Stated plainly, because a statement that claims everything is perfect is not worth reading.
Automated testing does not catch everything
The automated audit that is rerun before publication catches roughly a third of the ways a page can fail a real person. The rest — whether a heading actually describes its section, whether an alternative text is useful rather than merely present, whether an order makes sense when read aloud — needs a human.
No independent audit has been done
This site has not been reviewed by an independent accessibility specialist and has not been tested end to end with assistive technology by someone who relies on it daily.
Sites this one links to
Where this site links out — to a licensing board, a professional society, or a dental office — those sites are not under my control and I cannot speak for their accessibility.
If something does not work for you
Tell me and I will fix it. You do not need to know what the problem is called or which rule it breaks — describing what you were trying to do is enough.
Please put it in writing, by email or through the contact form, so I have a record of it and can tell you when it is fixed.

Contact form: the contact page
Tell me and I will look into it and reply. If an accessibility problem is preventing someone from arranging care, say so and it comes first.
If you are vision-impaired, or have another impairment covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act or a similar law, and you want to discuss accommodations for using this website, call (310) 990-3102 or email info@bhkidsanesthesia.com. You will reach me, not a service.
If you cannot get to something on this site, tell me and I will give it to you another way.
How this statement is maintained
This is a self-assessment. It is reviewed whenever the site changes materially, and the automated audit is rerun before publication.
